Young Scot Vice Chair recognised at the Scottish Women’s Awards

We are proud to share that Amy Simmons, Vice Chair of the Young Scot Board, has received an Outstanding Achievement accolade in the Young Achiever of the Year category at the Scottish Women’s Awards 2025. Now in their sixth year, the awards celebrate the achievements and contributions of women across Scotland who inspire others.

Amy’s recognition reflects her dedication and impact through her many roles at Young Scot over the past six years, including as a Board of Trustees Member, Remunerations Committee Member and Co-chair of our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Champions Panel.

Alongside her volunteering, Amy balances an impressive range of commitments as a Postgraduate medical student at the University of Glasgow, Co-ordinator of the Glasgow University Environmental Sustainability Team and Biology Tutor.

Her passion for youth advocacy and inclusion has made a lasting difference to Young Scot and to young people across Scotland.

Speaking about her recognition, Amy said:

I feel incredibly honoured to be recognised in this way, and it's not only a testament to the work that I have done but of the whole organisation, particularly those that have supported me throughout my journey as Vice Chair and Trustee, as I could never have done this alone.

Congratulations to the category winner, Karis Gill of Social Stories Club, runner-up Serena Leyni of Soothe Your Soul Haven, and to all the other inspiring women who were nominated and celebrated – every one of them is doing outstanding work and making an amazing contribution.

Amy’s achievement highlights the powerful impact young people can make when given the platform to lead, and we are delighted to see her commitment celebrated at such a prestigious event.
