 PASS - Proof of Age

We are the accredited issuer of PASS (Proof of Age Standards Scheme) in Scotland, and all Young Scot NECs issued by local authorities display the PASS hologram. This allows young people to use their Young Scot NEC as a legal, voluntary proof of age.

The benefits:

  • The Young Scot National Entitlement Card features the PASS hologram, the UK’s national proof of age accreditation scheme. This scheme is endorsed by the Home Office, the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC), and the Security Industry Authority.

  • Each card with a PASS hologram undergoes a rigorous application and accreditation process, ensuring the cardholder’s age and personal details are fully verified.

  • PASS provides an easy solution for local retailers to check someone’s age.

  • Download the PASS Card Verify app. If there is any hesitation that a Young Scot National Entitlement Card is genuine, use the app to scan a card to verify the details match that of the cardholder.

  • Free training materials and information packs on PASS are available from Young Scot.

  • PASS helps local businesses stay the right side of the law on the sale of restricted goods.

  • By encouraging the use of PASS, we can help reduce the number of lost drivers licenses and passports.

  • PASS is a safe, secure, valid form of proof of age supported by experts and the police.
