Young Scot National Entitlement Card

Young people in Scotland are entitled to their free smart-enabled Young Scot National Entitlement Card (Young Scot NEC) that connects them to opportunities and services.

Using their Young Scot NECs, young people can maximise their income with in-person and online discounts at local and national outlets in Scotland and across Europe. They can also use their Young Scot NECs for free proof of age, concessionary travel, and lots of local services too.

The Young Scot NEC is managed by Scotland’s 32 Local Authorities and National Entitlement Card Programme Office.

Over 700,000 11-26-years-old have been issued with their NEC. This connects them to services and opportunities offered by local authorities (school meals, smart access to buildings and library services), the Scottish Government (concessionary travel) and Young Scot (Rewards and discounts).

You can apply for a new or replacement Young Scot NEC online or contact the relevant local authority directly to apply for a new Young Scot NEC, update a photograph or replace a lost Young Scot NEC.
