Wiktoria Orlicka, Member of the Scottish Youth Parliament, joins Young Scot Board
We are delighted to welcome Wiktoria Orlicka to our Young Scot Board. Wiktoria’s appointment cements our commitment towards ensuring a quarter of the Board of Trustees are aged under 26.
Wiktoria brings a wealth of volunteer experience with her to Young Scot. Currently, she’s a Trustee for the Scottish Youth Parliament (SYP), and has been the MSYP for Motherwell and Wishaw since 2018. She’s also a member of the SYP Creative Communications team, and was formerly Convener of the SYP Culture and Media Committee. She is a part of the North Lanarkshire Youth Council and is a second-year journalism student at Edinburgh Napier University.
Wiktoria Orlicka MSYP, said: “As a former Ambassador for the Year of Young People 2018, Young Scot has a special place in my heart. I’ve seen and experienced first-hand the impact that Young Scot makes for young people – and it’s an honour to be joining the Board. Young Scot is all about giving young people opportunities to have opinions heard and to influence change – so it’s very powerful that they have young Trustees such as me on their Board.”
Elma Murray OBE, Chair of Young Scot, said: “I’m incredibly proud to welcome Wiktoria to our Young Scot Board. Her expertise, knowledge and insight will be an invaluable addition to Young Scot. As well as being a superb appointment, this also means that Young Scot continues our commitment to ensuring that young Trustees will make up 25% of our Board.”
