Impact of gambling harms sparks launch of dedicated support hub

Young people have told us that gambling is having a real impact on their lives, with more than 80% saying they have gambled at least once and one in five experiencing negative consequences.

In response, Young Scot partnered with risk-taking behaviour charity Fast Forward to launch a new gambling support hub ‘Know The Odds’ bringing together trusted information, practical advice and support in one place to help young people make informed choices and access help if they need it.

The hub features a range of engaging articles and resources exploring the issues young people are most likely to encounter, including the addictive nature of dating apps, loot boxes in gaming, gambling in sport and how to support a friend experiencing gambling-related harm.

Know The Odds has been developed in direct response to what young people told us in our gambling survey 2025. Promoted to young people via popular gamer and young content creator Duncan, the survey gained insights from over 1,000 young people.

One young person told us:

“I’d like online, anonymous support. I know there’s some stuff out there, but for someone who doesn’t know, its hard to find.”

While more than a third (37%) said they wanted access to anonymous support for gambling and advice on helping friends and family affected by gambling-related harm, many weren't sure where to find it. The hub brings together trusted, accessible information in one place, making it easier for young people to seek support whenever they need it.
