We are delighted to welcome Ian Campbell to our Young Scot Board. Ian’s appointment cements our commitment to providing young people with trusted information as well as high quality opportunities and experiences.

Over the last 20 years, Ian has held senior roles in the Scottish Government, including more than a decade as Head of the EU Office in Brussels. Ian also spent nine years working in London at the centre of the UK Government as Assistant Private Secretary to the Government Chief Whip.

Outside of work and his family, Ian is most passionate about sports. At 16 years old, he left school to become a professional footballer playing with Hibernian and he understands the importance of sport in a young person’s life. To this day, he continues to have an active interest in sport and supports both his children in their sporting activities.

Ian brings his years of experience and love of sport to the table as a new member of the Young Scot Board and will use this to help amplify the voices of young people from across the country.

I’m really pleased and proud to be appointed to the Board of Young Scot and look forward to being a part of the work they do to help young people in Scotland. This is a challenging time for everyone no matter how old they are. We need to ensure support is available for young people throughout the current situation and as we recover from the pandemic and I hope to play my part in achieving this. Ian Campbell

I’m very proud to be welcoming Ian to the Young Scot Board. With his knowledge of diplomacy and government engagement, as well as his insight and expertise, Ian will be an invaluable addition to our team. I’m very proud to be welcoming Ian to the Young Scot Board and I know he is excited about joining us. Elma Murray OBE, Chair of Young Scot
