Inverclyde Chief Executive joins Young Scot Board
Committed to improving lives in Scotland long-time advocate for young people and families – Louise Long will work with the board to help Young Scot support young people to thrive as they grow up.
Breaking barriers as the first woman appointed Chief Executive at Inverclyde Council in 2021, Louise has carved an inspiring career delivering meaningful services at the heart of communities.
Graduating as a social worker in 1996, Louise continued in roles working primarily with children, young people and families including Aberlour Child Care Trust, social work management roles with East Renfrewshire Council, before being appointed as the Chief Officer and Corporate Director for Inverclyde Health & Social Care Partnership. For several years, she was also the Chair of the Compassionate Inverclyde, a social movement that promotes kindness and compassion.
With 20 years’ experience in senior manager positions, Louise brings a wealth of knowledge to the Young Scot Board. She said:
“Joining the Young Scot Board provides an invaluable opportunity to share insight and learning and help support Young Scot to deliver the aims, objectives and goals to support young people in Scotland. I remain passionate about making a difference, addressing inequalities and I am committed to improving the lives of young people.”
