Young People to Benefit from New Cosla and Young Scot Partnership
From 2020, COSLA and Young Scot will partner to support Scottish Local Authorities to use the Young Scot National Entitlement Card (Young Scot NEC) and Young Scot’s services in new and innovative ways to support local young people.
The partnership will include a programme of shared learning events across Scotland, information roadshows, and a national conference. This work will help to support inclusive growth, increase wellbeing and reduce child and young person poverty.
COSLA is the voice of local government in Scotland, and they provide political leadership on national issues and work with councils to improve local services and strengthen local democracy. The Children and Young People Board leads on education and children’s services for COSLA. Working collaboratively with national youth information and citizenship charity, Young Scot, will mean more opportunities for local communities to take advantage of the Young Scot NEC and Young Scot services.
We’re thrilled to be embarking on an official collaboration with COSLA’s Children & Young People Board. By working together, we can make even more impact in local communities across Scotland. Louise Macdonald OBE, CEO, Young Scot
COSLA’s collaboration with Young Scot is a real opportunity to showcase the benefits partnership working already brings the length and breadth of Scotland. Importantly, this joint work will support the work that Local Government is already doing in tackling child poverty and increasing the wellbeing of all of our young people.
