Here at Young Scot, we are thrilled to become an official donation partner for Hey Girls UK and to provide free access to non-plastic tampons and sanitary pads.

Young people who visit our office in Edinburgh, take part in our Co-design workshops, or attend our outreach events across Scotland, will now be provided access to free period products.

There's a lot of stigma surrounding periods but there doesn't have to be! It's something that half the world’s population will have to deal with at some point in their life. That’s why we launched a campaign on our young.scot website which showed young people that they’re not along and answered many of their common questions.

Also, we worked with the Scottish Government to gather insight on what young people and students thought about periods and sanitary products. As well as online insight activities, we delivered two workshops to gather the views of Scotland’s young people on accessing sanitary products. You can read the full report on Young Scot Observatory.

Becoming a Hey Girls donation partner is something that Young Scot is extremely proud of. Young people have told us that they often miss school, college or other activities because they can’t afford to buy period products. That’s why it’s time for us to act and to provide products for the young people that we meet or work with every day.
