LockdownLowdown - what young people in Scotland think about COVID-19
In partnership with our friends at the Scottish Youth Parliament and YouthLink Scotland, we are asking young people from every community in Scotland to share their concerns about COVID-19.
#LockdownLowdown is a survey developed by young people with a co-design approach. The results will help to identify what young people need from the Scottish Government, the NHS and others in the future.
Members of the Scottish Youth Parliament (MSYP), our Young Scot volunteers and #iWill Ambassadors are encouraging their friends, neighbours, peers and networks to take part. Youth workers are also promoting the survey across Scotland.
The results of the survey will help to identify what young people in Scotland are worried about in relation to COVID-19 – and the impact it’s having on their lives. The results will be anonymous and will include demographic and geographic information. This will help to ensure representation of all Scotland’s communities.
The anonymous information will be shared with stakeholders. These include the Scottish Government, NHS Scotland, COSLA, Local Authorities and others, who can use the insights to feed directly into policy design and service provision in response to the pandemic. The information will also be used by youth workers to support their work, and by MSYPs to inform their advocacy activities. Our Young Scot volunteers and #iWill Ambassadors will also share this information with their networks to help keep decision-makers informed about how young people are feeling in relation to COVID-19.
Following on from the initial survey, MSYPs, our Young Scot volunteers and #iWill Ambassadors will encourage other young people to keep submitting their questions and concerns on a weekly poll hosted on social media. This will help to track the key issues that are worrying young people in Scotland. Young Scot will respond to these insights and tailor their daily digital information to ensure that young people have all the information they need.
