Meet the new Young Scot Board members
Board bolstered by youth advocate expert, Enable Works Director and social justice advocate.
We are delighted to announce the appointment of three new members to the Young Scot Board following a highly competitive recruitment process. The appointment of Finlay Anderson, Ashley Ryan and Calum Campbell marks an exciting step forward in our commitment to ensuring young people’s lived experiences and unique sector knowledge are at the heart of our decision-making.
The new trustees bring equalities sector expertise, valuable lived experiences and varied perspectives to strengthen the Board’s ability to guide Young Scot in delivering our mission of empowering young people to access new opportunities and thrive in all aspects of their lives.

Finlay, Ashley and Calum join the Board at a pivotal time, as Young Scot continues to develop innovative ways to support young people, providing them with the tools and opportunities they need to flourish.

Meet Finlay
University of Edinburgh student Finlay Anderson is no stranger to Young Scot, having volunteered as part of our YSHive network and taking part in opportunities including a live webinar to launch our BIG Survey results. Finlay brings a wealth of youth advocacy experience including insight from his time as an #IWill Scotland Ambassador, Scottish Youth Parliament member, and Chair of Dumfries & Galloway Youth Council. Findlay’s roles with RNIB Scotland and the Children and Young People’s Commissioner have deepened his focus on young people’s rights and empowerment.
Meet Ashley
Leading one of the largest and most successful specialist employment support teams in Scotland, director at charity Enable Ashley Ryan and her team supports more than 7,000 people who have disabilities or barriers to work. Ashley joined Enable more than a decade ago and has worked in a variety of roles before her appointment as the Director of Enable Works in 2021, with her leadership, Enable’s innovative “All In” employability model has transformed opportunities for people facing barriers, achieving exceptional outcomes. Ashley’s expertise includes an international research project as a Churchill Fellow exploring transitions for disabled young people in North America.
Meet Calum
University of Strathclyde student Calum Campbell brings his passion for social justice to the Young Scot Board. Alongside his studies, Calum works with the End Child Poverty Coalition, engaging with policymakers to tackle inequalities. His experience spans roles with a further education college, a community development charity, and as a strategic adviser for a national corporation. Calum is particularly focused on policies supporting marginalised communities and young people. Living near Glasgow, he enjoys travelling, reading, and TV in his free time.
